SINGA (Singapore Math Global Competition)

Overview

Singapore Math Global Competition is a new international Singapore Mathematics exam for grades 1 to 12 that has been written by top Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) teachers. Singapore Math is taught in over 70 countries across the world, and SINGA MATH International Olympiad will be the standard for assessing children and providing vital formative and summative assessment data to parents and teachers so that they can enhance teaching and learning.

Singapore Math is well-known all over the world. But, in order to stay at the top, it requires ongoing energy and challenge, which is why SINGA MATH was created. Welcome to SINGA MATH International Olympiad, where we discuss best practices in mathematics education and students assess their mathematical abilities.

Objective

We are a group of passionate math educators that want to help kids and instructors around the world improve their math skills. The "Singapore method" was created by a group of teachers in Singapore in the 1980s, who were tasked by the ministry of education with developing high-quality teaching materials.

They studied at the most recent behavioural science studies and visited schools in other countries, such as Canada and Japan, to compare the efficiency of various teaching techniques. The textbooks the group developed were influenced by educational psychologists such as Jerome Bruner, who proposed that humans learn in three stages: through real objects, drawings, and symbols. As a result of this approach, Singapore places a heavy focus on visualising mathematical issues; for example, using coloured blocks to represent fractions or ratios.

We aspire to introduce the globe to the best of Singapore education. We aim to attain our Desired Outcomes of Education by teaching our students in Singapore so that they are future-ready, have a strong sense of national identity, and are prepared to contribute in a globalised world. We want to bring out the best in our students so that they can live life to the fullest, contribute to their community, and care for their country. We also want to help our kids develop their interests so that they can pursue their hobbies and achieve their goals.
